Microsoft VS. Google
Ever wish they had a nice compact Operating System to get you out of the Microsoft rutt?
Well it seems then your prayers have been answered.
for the scoop on the release of Google Chrome OS.

Now for those of you in the know, its not like Windows is the only operating system on the market. If you don't like WINDOWS, you can always purchase an Apple/MAC and run MAC OS, or you can build a UNIX box or a LINUX box with the billions of varieties of open sourceLINUX (which is what CHROME OS is built on).
The problem as it stands and as it always will be is compatibility, for very limited machines such as netbooks this may be ideal, OS, Browser, Mail, Google Docs(Office) Package all based on one company and designed for Lite applications and net usage.
What are the possibilities of going Big Time OS?? well that depends on how much pull google can muster, lets look at the facts shall we:
-they would need to convince hardware manufacturers and software manufacturers to write drivers and programs for their OS.
-In addition to this they will have to find game companies willing to build whole new versions of games to go with their new OS.
-This kind of project will cost millions if not billions of dollars, Google Might have the capital but will need to find companies willing to take a risk and let me tell you something....during a recession that will be a hard pressed thing to do!
I think for the portable solutions an OS like Android is wonderfull, I believe that a New OS choice for Netbooks will be great. I'm not sure even google can pull off creating the whole OS shebang that MS has built its empire on over the years.
Even taking into account that Google does manage to conquer all these issues and come out with a respectable OS the last thing they will need to contend with is Brand Loyalty and Fear.
The bottom line is:
Windows is alot like George W. Bush,
we elected him a second term why?
Well he may be broken half the time but at least we are familiar enough with him to know how to deal with the problems that exist or the ones in the future.
Why trade up to a whole basketfull of new problems.
I guess only time will tell, perhaps google will have its act together enough to make a good contender.
And perhaps figurativley they are just pi**ing into the wind.
